I highly enjoyed this third installment of the Cain Chronicles, the spinoff novellas of the wonderful Seasons of the Moon Series. Moon of the Terrible focuses more so on Abel than the previous novellas (I'd say New Moon Summer is mainly about Rylie and her feelings and Blood Moon Harvest is mainly about Seth and his, so it just makes sense that Moon of the Terrible focuses mainly on Abel). Abel has had it rough. From being a hunter and hater of werewolves, to becoming one, he's had to completely shift his way of thinking and come to terms with his new life. He has also fallen hard for the pack Alpha, Rylie, who just so happens to be Abel's brother's betrothed. I feel for the guy, I really do. He's had a very hard-knock life, and the minute he finally feels like he belongs, in swoops Seth to "save the day." Honestly, I don't think Abel ever catches a break, but perhaps he will in the next installment of this awesome series.

While this novella spends a lot of time assessing Abel, there is still a ton of action as well. In fact, this is the novella in which we learn the true identity of Cain, and I surely wasn't expecting it! Nor was I expecting Seth to ask for what he did, or for it to happen, and on top of all that, another bombshell was dropped, as well. This is definitely a novella full of surprises, and I'm hoping that it allows Seth and Abel to connect with each other and put their rivalry aside, but I think, in all honesty, it's about to get even worse...

I started reading a lot of books again and I found SM Reine to be a great author and I have read almost all of her books. They keep you interested and at times the descriptions are enough that you almost feel like you are there.
Episode 3 continues the story of Riley, Seth and Abel. The author's story telling continues to be superb. The characters are excellently portrayed and the story moves along at a decent pace and is filled with action. Very entertained by this story and all the ones leading up to it. You should not only get this, but if you haven't read the others in the series, go back and start from the beginning. It's a fun ride.
This series is GREAT, I definitely recommend it. Now I'm on to the next book in this series. I just wish they were longer. Each book is only a little over an hour.
Things keep heating up between Rylie and Abel as their feelings shift and change. Abel is off to save Rylie and Seth and we find out exactly who Cain is.
It's always fun to read stories that fans help to create. To read one by such a talented author is a privilege. I've read some other stories cobbled together from ideas from fans, and they're never all that well written. SM Reine has a true gift, though. To take these ideas and create a story this engaging and wonderful is true genius. I've been absolutely devouring everything she's written since I read Dark Union (The Descent Series), and have loved every minute of it. I can't wait to continue the story of Rylie, Able, and Seth!
I have to say, I really enjoy SM Reine's writing. Her decision to write a fan inspired serial this fall has been a favourite. It is great to see how ideas that were brought to the table have been fleshed out and become "real". I don't like to give spoilers, but if you are a fan of the Rylie, Abel and Seth this installation of the story brings some new thoughts into the picture and shows just how complicated life can get when you are a werewolf Alpha in the midst of a family feud of epic proportions! Well worth the price to see what happens to the trio and all of their friends, new and old.
This novella series has really fallen into the typical urban fantasy mold. Riley is a victim. Yeah she's supposed to be an alpha but she doesn't act like one. Riley has turned into the woman that can't take care of herself and has to have her two love interests saving her. The writing is inconsistent to the point of annoyance. In the descent series half demons could bleed to death from a paper cut. One shows up here and is an unstoppable killing machine. Who before gets taken down easy but here can hold off two alphas on her own. There are other things I won't go into to limit any spoilers.

Eleanor is way over used. She was so unbelievable before and she's worse now. Then there is Cain. This guy is a joke. An uber, magic using, no scent having werewolf. When he's revealed its not even close to being a surprise. Lastly the end of the book falls into the typical mold of urban fantasy. After reading these novella I have some serious doubts about the upcoming ascension series.
