I was a little leery when I bought this series because I hadn't read anything by J. R. Rain before. Some Vampire books leave me cold! Found I loved Samantha Moon and her friends. It is hard for me to accept the new vampires without fangs. As my granddaughter in college explained to me, vampires NEVER had fangs. Our generation had it all wrong!

Samantha's friends include a wolfman, witch, elderly Elvis with a facelift and many other fun characters. Every book was fun and interesting with a good story line. A lot of women will relate with Samantha when it comes to her married life and romances.

I've read all eight and just purchased her friend Allison's witch series. Will buy J. R. Rain's books in the future because they are worth the price. Outstanding can't put down reads!

Violence but no drag-you-down drama.
J. R. Rain's Samantha Moon is a fantastic character. This bundle of stories flow smoothly, easy to follow and difficult to put down.

Intriguing storylines with plenty of twists, believable characters with distinct personalities and paranormal abilities. Thought-provoking and snarky dialogue.

I will re-read this collection and always look forward to works by this author.
Having become bored and tired with the same old trite story lines in paranormal literature, it has been refreshing to read J.R. Rain's Samantha Moon series. I found the characters believable, in the milieu, the action decent, but what made the books for me was the banter. Most writers can describe a room, a car, a body...any of the mundane things that create the image in the mind. Rain has pulled one of those great, old tricks we don't see that often and has given his characters a touch of that sassiness that made The Thin Man series so enjoyable in their banter. I recommend the series to anyone seeking that "something different" in their reading. Also, the shared reality that Samantha and her friends inhabit works extremely well. If the previous statement confuses you, read the books, check the resources, and get caught up.
I am a complete bookworm, and can never stray far from whatever books I am able to get my hands on. But still takes a lot to keep my interest. This series is simply amazing. I am pulled completely into the story, and truly connect with all the good, bad, and weird that the main character feels. There is humor, heart, and just the right amount of dementedness, which makes it just about the perfect series for me!) J.R. is wonderful at character development. I have found myself talking to multiple people about this series, trying to get across to them just how wonderful it is. But truthfully, I cannot do it justice. You just have to read for yourself. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
Kind of hard to rate a multi-book series. I rated each book individually on my Goodreads account, so I suppose I could list each of those here, but that would take forever to do and forever to read!

Samantha Moon is an unwilling vampire. She is also special, being stronger and more intuitive than such a young vampire (just 7 years since she was attacked) should be. In this set (only one other novel in the series exists at this time -- the newly published "Vampire Sun"), Samantha goes from being lost with her new identity which causes her to lose those things most dear to her her sense of identity, her job, her husband and her children -- to a confident woman finding out more about her condition every episode and how to deal with it. She builds a new life, including a new career, regaining custody of her children, discovering the truth about her vampirism, and finding new purpose to the condition thrust upon her so many years ago.

Interesting premises, interesting take on the vampire mythos, and just plain fun reading.
I love this series! Every book of this series & even the short stories are simply brilliant. I've read all of it... in this collection & beyond.

There is so much to love & to praise about the Samantha Moon books, I don't know where to begin. I love the intelligence. I love the humor, wit & sarcasm. The characters have depth & "feel" so real & are easy to relate to, even when they aren't human. I love that ethical issues are explored. I really think & feel when reading Moon.

The bad guys are seriously bad... the kind you just love to hate. Amazing good guys that you laugh with & really love. The mysteries are wonderful. There's emotional depth that is surprising and wonderful. There are even spiritual aspects to these stories that cause me to question, think & really wonder. There's a wisdom. Positive & enlightening. This means something, coming from me. I tend to shy away from reading anything with religious overtones.

I cannot recommend this series strongly enough. Wonderful author, wonderful books!
I LOVED these books. The ONLY reason I didn't give them a 5 is that I am getting really sick of hearing her call herself a FREAK, and doing the pity party CONSTANTLY. I really thought that should have gotten better the further along the stories went, but it hasn't. I really have an issue with her calling her kids freaks as well. Come on....get OVER it already!!!! We need her to be more confident. After all she is a kick butt PI.

Besides that, I love the story lines and they helped me get thru a really tough time in my life. Samantha has had a lot of changes as well, and it gives me hope that I can get thru my stuff as well.

PLEASE quit making her the victim, and start making her more the confident woman I know she can be!!!
