Snared A Jaded Regret Novel edition by LL Collins MarisaRose Shor Darren Birks Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
While I loved Sentenced ( book 1 in this series) Snared stole my heart! Beau completely captured my heart and took it hostage. Beau is the quiet drummer for Jaded Regret. Beau doesn't know how to let people in. With his past it is not hard to see why. Even his sister Nat and his best friend Bex have trouble getting him to open up to them and know almost everything. MIx his past with depression and it is almost like he doesn't stand chance. I found myself relating more and more to him. Then out of nowhere enters April. When Jaded Regret agrees to a charity event Beau had no idea that his life would turn upside down. When past and future collide sometimes people break before they can heal. April never expected to fall for Beau but she felt a conenction from the very beginning. The only downside....You can't help someone who doesn't want to help themselves. As someone who has battled depression and other hard topics that are discussed in this book I must say it touched me on so many levels. L.L. Collins did an amazing job at giving these hard to talk about topics a voice and she did so with class. I highly recommend reading this book but I do so with extending a tissue warning becuase I am not afraid to admit that I ugly cried like i never have before!
First, let me say that once I began reading Snared, I was sucked into the story. I couldn't put the book down once i started reading. I had to know what going to happen next.
This book deals with a family that has mental health issues. It started when Beau found his dad after he committed suicide and how it affected his life afterwards. His mother convinced him that he was a bad person and didnt deserve to be loved. He heard his mom's voice in his head talking to him.
Beau grew up in foster care with his sister Natalie and another girl Bex. The 3 of them became a family and could count on each other through the good times and the bad ones.
The band, Jaded Regret, was formed by Beau and Bex. Beau was a drummer and that is how he released his stress. Bex sang and Beau beat on the drums. The band was well known and got asked to play at a benefit for foster kids in need.
April Knight was the daughter of a respected doctor and social worker. She was also in charge of the benefit. Once Beau and April met, it was not an easy relationship. April was pretty persistent and finally got her man. Beau and April were going strong until he had a few set backs. Beau found out things that made his world come crashing down around him. April got to see Beau at his worst and his best. She loved him and was willing to stand by him always.
This story affected my life and made me more aware of the issues some people face. Keep your tissues handy. You will probably need them.
Once again LL Collins has another 5+ star read on her hands. Snared may be listed as a stand alone but this reader recommends that you read book 1 in the Jaded Regret series Sentenced first so as to not have spoilers if you decided to read the first book and fully understand the relationship of the band. We first met Jaded Regret in Sentenced and what I thought about Beau was totally not what we got. Tissues are necessary as the author's warning states, this book contains issues that may be difficult for some readers.
Beau's childhood was spent living in the Foster care system which wasn't easy. He finds that playing the drums help quiet the demons in his life and give him a sense of freedom from the pain. Because of the way he grew up he doesn’t believe in happily ever after or that he deserves to be loved.
April has lived a privileged life with parents who love her. She doesn’t know what it fells like to live a life without caring parents, like the children in the welfare system. Once she meets Beau there is some type of connection but how can she get him to open up to her when he is so quiet.
Will his demons keep them apart or will the connection they have be enough to get him to open up?
Right from the start I was not able to put this book down. Beau is not what I was expecting and I was shocked over a few things, especially his childhood. We already knew he was in a foster home but what transpired to why was not expected. The author did an awesome job in keeping the storyline real. Yes, there were a couple parts that were predictable but the way the author delivered it had me in tears and even though I knew it was coming I couldn’t prevent the emotions from happening. I was also able to relate to the emotions that were consuming April several times in the book. The interaction of the band, Beau’s only family, added to the emotional ride this book took you on. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series regardless if is is Natalie or Tanner's story, as they both have one. I will be recommending this book and series as it is a must read.
