When parallel dimensions collide, four different people end up sharing one body. The adventure that follows shows that even the worst among them can be redeemed.

Nick Glaude views himself as an ordinary person. The most interesting thing that has happened recently is a rendezvous with an old high school crush. After he seduces her and they have one night of passion, Nick begins feeling guilty for his actions. He flees her home, and his real adventure begins.

Nick may have an ordinary life, but his new companions do not. The Gladiator fights in a blood-filled arena for the world’s entertainment. The Assassin will kill anyone for the right price. The Pervert indulges in his ugly urges and commits unspeakable acts of violence. Each man is brutal and bizarre to Nick. They are also all him.

When Nick wakes up the morning following his fling, he’s suddenly sharing his body with three other people. The three other Glaudes are all from parallel dimensions, and they will stop at nothing to take control of the body and use it to get back home. Can the four work together, or will they be torn apart by their own psyches?

“The best” is a uniquely interesting novel. At its core it’s a physiological thriller exploring humanity. Exploring what is means to be human and how our actions affect ourselves and others. That our ability to control “The Beast” is what makes us, humans, different from beasts. It brings new meanings to the word choice and sacrifice in very real ways. In my opinion most books lack good endings because the beginning paints the author into a corner. The Beast does a good job of wrapping things up while paving the way for a sequel which the author promises. I look forward to the sequel and find the writers style refreshing.

Very unique as far as sci-fi genres go, easy to read and follow the story. Unexpected ending. I like it.
Book is great. Funny and easy to read.

Great book. Interesting premise, and execution is fascinating. I won't tell you anything about it. Throw yourself into it and get carried away.
This book is fascinating. Even though it’s labelled science fiction, it’s also a physiological mind-bender.

The story is easy to read and follow but difficult to describe (let alone write; this is how I can tell the author is talented). There are four personalities in one body and they are all from different worlds - parallel universes. The author writes a detailed and difficult subject into an easy to follow and easy to comprehend story. He shows the struggle of each personality coming to terms with why they are there and what their ultimate struggle is.

[Excerpt] I had seen the ugliness in my own soul and called myself a faceless monster. Why “a faceless monster?” Because I was afraid even to admit my sins to myself mentally, afraid to identify with the man whose nature I found so completely and despairingly frightening.

To explain the idea of four souls in one body would be a hard concept to explain and to keep track of who’s saying what, but because the author wrote it so well, I had no trouble keeping abreast on what was going on, and who was talking.

Even though the personalities at first struggle against one another, they eventually find that they can use each other’s strengths during conflict. The Gladiator knows moves that the Assassin doesn’t know, the Pervert disgusts the personalities but they learn to understand him, and the Ordinary Man marvels at each one. What is their purpose? What is the mission? We all have questioned this at one time or another about our own life. And it all points to the beast within each of us…the beast who we must resist and draw that line between what’s okay and what’s taboo.

I have to mention the poems in the book too. The author writes great poetry, which is a nice touch.

The ending is a complete and utter surprise. I did not even expect the ending. It’s so original and fresh.

I recommend this book to those who enjoy science fiction, humor, psychology, interpersonal relationships, philosophy, and those who may have multiple personalities.
For aeons mankind has sought to rise to it’s full potential but we inhabit a Universe in which duality exists. The Beast, the shadow, the demon, the Devil – whatever your own name for it, is a part of that duality tugging at us, consuming us and holding us back from our true selves. That is what I believe and that is what this amazing book is about. To escape the Beast, we must first recognize Him. Having recognized Him, we must then find a way to assimilate Him and in the process, render Him harmless.

Bobrov has produced a super story written in a compelling manner that gives us all a glimpse of this battle and even some hints on how to ‘win’. It uses a number of sci-fi vehicles to do this such as parallel universes, space and time travel, and a hint of magic a la Carlos Casteneda. This adventure in human psychology and the meaning of life, involves all of those and yet it takes place within the confines of a single individual. The duality is essentially resolved within a unity and that is rather clever on the part of the author.

For those who do not have a clue what I just said let me tell you in plain English. This is a hell of a book. Well-written, it holds your attention from page to page. It is filled with knowledge and it’s a rather good plot with intriguing characters and events and, to unfortunately have to resort to a cliche, it will make you think. If it does not do this, then I fear, the Beast has already won.

Read this book.... you won't regret it.
