Author Susan Stoker has once again produced a truly excellent story delighting this reader with her hallmark inclusion of a strong male character as the hero, Dean "Crash" Christopherson, fireman and paramedic, along with a strong female character as the heroine, Adeline Reynolds, a marketing guru suffering from epilepsy. This strong but vulnerable woman and how she deals with her handicap really drives the story. Although Adeline champions her independence, due in part to her awesome alert dog, Coco, she discovers through the course of this story that independence isn't as freeing as she has visualized it to be. After meeting Crash and experiencing his protection, understanding and willingness to let her fly free when reasonable Adeline comes to realize that having people who care assist her when needed is more freeing than acting alone all the time.Susan Stoker tells her readers a fun and poignant story here with well described scenes, excellent dialogue and a heartwarming "happily ever after." Anyone who picks up this book will undergo a truly enjoyable reading experience.

Shelter for Adeline Badge of Honor Texas Heroes Book 7 edition by Susan Stoker Romance eBooks Reviews
First, let me say I'm a little bias! I am a HUGE fan of Susan Stoker's. I own every ebook and have most in paperback (I'm working on getting the few I'm missing) She is only one of two authors that I one-click, preorder everything she writes. That being said this story was one that I had a hard time putting down (had to go to work though!) Crash is all hot alpha male and a firefighter to boot. Love a man in uniform! Adeline is a very independent woman - she felt she had to be so that she would never have to rely on anybody because of her disability. I loved that Adeline was so fierce!! She could put you in your place with a smile on her face and you'd never know what hit you!
Best scene in the book for me was Crash and Adeline's first date. There was so much thought put into that date! I also always enjoy Ms. Stoker's secondary characters. Some we've met before and we a glimpse of what they're up to now. Others are new and she weaves them into the story with just enough characteristics and background that you know they're going to get their own story, you just don't know when and the anticipation is half the fun (not!). 😀
This is a standalone as is the whole Badge of Honor series. It's a wonderful don't miss it kinda series. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll sigh!

it was amazing
Yet another fantastic story in this series, with some suspense and excitement and a growing love but also lots of problems. Dean is awesome, so supportive, caring and loving from the minute he stops to help a young women in the diner. He sees she needs help and doesn't hesitate. Adeline has suffered from epilepsy since she was little but its getting worse, doctors are recommending surgery which is scary. She loves her job but not the current boss, she is getting creepy vibes from him. Her dog was originally just a pet but seemed sensitive to her illness so had some training to become a service dog. I find a lot of animals are sensitive to illness trained or not, they like to offer comfort, even cats. It is great to yet again get insight into how a person deals with a handicap from their point of view, I dare say many of us have at some time or other seen first hand someone have a seizure. Even maybe helped them, but how many actually think about the affects in that persons eyes and perspective. Having helped and been a witness to this myself I was aware of their surroundings, making sure they couldn't hurt themselves giving some padding for their head, and keeping people away so they weren't staring. Then giving them time to come back and also calling paramedics, it didn't feel like much when I have done this but reading this story made me see that actually it was probably just what they needed and all I could have done in the surroundings we were in at the time. The idea of a service dog that can give a warning 10minutes before it hits to give them time to find somewhere safe is a real gift. Susan Stoker has done a sensitive but informative job yet again with a subject that can make a lot of people uncomfortable, intertwining it into a very special love story that had me enthralled from the first page. I haven't read one bad book by this author and I have read almost all her books, I automatically pre order as soon as the option comes up she never lets me down.
The following are my comments and views of the Susan Stoker book 'Shelter for Adeline'.
I was lucky enough to receive an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
Once again, Ms. Stoker has outdone herself. I have always admired the way she empathetically introduces topics that many other authors are afraid to discuss. In Shelter for Adeline, the heroine suffers from severe seizures. Ms. Stoker helps us to understand and acknowledge the strength it must take for others to go through this on a daily basis without making her book into one giant pity party.
The realistic timing of Adeline and Crash's romance appealed to me greatly. Too often, I read books that jump right into insta-love. How often does that happen in real life? When they first see each other, there is attraction. However, their love is allowed to grow in a natural and thoughtful way. Rather than rushing into an instant slam-bam-thank-you-mam that begins to feel very farcical, Adeline and Crash proceed in their feelings in timely manner that made the book feel more close to life. I guess you could say that this book is a meat and potatoes kind of romance versus cake and ice cream. There is a time and a place for both. That being said, many authors right good fluff, but Ms. Stoker is one of the few who takes the time and care to write with substance.
